Retro gaming with Commodore 64 emulators
You can still play this game and other old games thanks to Commodore Emulators. You just need the emulator application and the game ROM file. We have an in-depth Commodore 64 gaming tutorial on our site if you are interested. Raid Over Moscow is no longer sold in stores or online. The game company is probably more honored that this game still is played than annoyed that they aren't making money from it anymore. To play this game you need to do a little searching on the internet. Use these links listed below to find both an emulator and a game ROM for Raid Over Moscow.
Raid Over Moscow: About The Game The plot of the game is pretty simple. The Russians are about to launch a nuclear attack on the United States. Your mission is to stop the attack by destroying all of the Soviet nuclear launch sites and then lead a final assault on the Soviet Defense Center. Sounds easy right?
The first screen you see in the game is this overview of Earth. Soaring above our home planet in space is the US Space Station with a Space Shuttle Stealth fighter aircraft. The map shows American cities (which are possible targets for Soviet attacks) and Soviet launch sites/cities. This screen also shows a cluster of soviet missiles, just launched at Atlanta. Bye bye CNN. To stop the attack you need to get a Stealth fighter and attack the Minsk site, from which the attack was launched. Enter the space station..
Your commandos will scramble to their planes (one at a time) - then it is your task to get them out of there. And that can actually be a bit tricky in zero -g... Once you get a fighter out, you will return to the overview map, and guide the fighter to your target (a launch site). Once there you begin an attack run over Soviet territory.
To avoid Soviet radar you go in low. Shoot any ground targets you can spot, and generally try to stay alive to reach the launch site. Beware of the heat-seeking missiles that come up behind you.
When you make it to the launch silos, your primary mission is to shoot down the center silo (control silo). Other silos can be shot down for extra points and aircraft. You will also have to engage Soviet airplanes that guard the silos. Once the center silo is destroyed, your mission here is complete. You need to destroy three Soviet launch sites before starting your attack on Moscow - or rather, your Raid over Moscow. The raid begins with a flying sequence similar to previous ones. You are then stationed with your men outside the Soviet Defense Center.
Here you must shoot down the doors of the building to find the entrance (it's the white door). Then clear the square of all enemy troops. This can be quite hard, since destroyed troops have the very annoying habit of reappearing. In the last sequence you enter the reactor hall, where you must shoot down some maintenance robots using disc grenades. |
